SAM Light Texture Add-on 1.1

   (17 reviews)

6 Screenshots

About This File

Custom skin textures I created for SAM Light for personal use.  It's reached a point where I feel it's ready for everyone else to use.  These textures are for human races only.

Each texture set is custom made and meant to be used together.

Hand and feet textures include fingernails/toenails and are meant to be used with hand/feet meshes from SAM High Poly Conversion.

Face textures include high quality ears and no problematic seams commonly found in the back of the head.

Requirements

Diffuse Maps

  • created from various photo references
  • slightly saturated and mainly tailored for Nords
  • skin tone might be off for non-Nord races
  • includes body hair options
  • optional tanline body
  • available in 2k (uncompressed)

Normal Maps (_msn)

  • baked from high poly models and blended with skin pores for extra details
  • face maps use vanilla maps as base and blended to remove neck seams
  • available in 4k and 2k (uncompressed)

Specular Maps (_s)

  • designed specifically to highlight fine skin pores while not being overly glossy
  • available in 4k and 2k (compresed and uncompressed variants)

Subsurface Maps (_sk)

  • effect is subtle in Oldrim but much more noticeable in SE
  • created from diffuse maps
  • available in 1k (compressed and uncompressed variants)

Face Complexion Maps

  • custom-made complexion maps
  • rough maps are freckles and age maps are sharper and appear younger than vanilla
  • certain NPC's may look different due to age complexion
  • available in 1k uncompressed (RGB 64:64:64)

Installation
If using a mod manager, just follow the installer.  The quality 4k options are meant for screenarchery, but they're usable for general gameplay if you have a capable system.

Manual Installation

  • 00 Diffuse
    • textures in _bodyBase, _hands, _head folders are required
    • choose one body texture from _bodyDefault (normal body) or _bodyTan (tanline body) folders
  • 01 Normal
    • textures in _hands and _head folders are required.
    • choose between 2k body (_body2k) or 4k body (_body4k)
    • optionally install texture in _headCustom folder for custom head texture
  • 02 Specular
    • Quality: pick one body texture from _body2k or _body4k folder, then install all textures in _quality2k folder
    • Performance: install all textures in the _performance2k folder
  • 03 Subsurface
    • Quality: install all textures in the _quality1k folder
    • Performance: install all textures in the _performance1k folder
  • 04 Face Detail
    • optional for custom face complexion maps

What about SAM (full)?
Due to the vast amount of normal maps used, I decided to only support SAM Light since it uses only one set of normal maps.  The other maps can be used for SAM, but some editing is needed if you want the genital textures.

Please do not modify and share without my permission.

Credit goes to Vector for the creation of Shape Atlas for Men.

Amazing Texture Mod, any plans for Arm- and armpit hair in the future? :)

Of course.  My mouse is currently broken.  So I can't do much texture/mesh editing at the moment.  Using a pen to navigate still feels strange to me.

I'm obsessed with this mod on the first look at it, but the internet connection is bad from where I live... It took me more than 20 times trying to download it, only once did it not end up with a net error info :( Anyway, now I'm playing with it and I'm so happy with what I see. All the troubles seemed to be worthwhile. Thanks @KouLeifoh for this great job!

Well, that's more related to SAM Morphs for RaceMenu than it is to this mod, but that mod doesn't come with the extra textures on its own. You have to rename and add the textures you want to use yourself like it says in its description. If you don't add any or add them improperly you'll just get purple.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us all!

Question: I'm new to complexion maps. If I wanted the rough01 complexion, would I re-name it blankdetailmap.dds? or open the SAM head nif and replace the blankdetailmap.dds path?

Love this mod! I'm trying to completely remove the rest of the body hair but it seems like when I save it in the usual DTX5 for Skyrim it goes blue in the game. What format should I be saving in? Thanks!

Really amazing work...I just loved the skin textures.
Maybe you could add the arm's missing hair on the "heavy" haired texture? (didn't check the furball option but that may be too much hair for my taste xD).
Keep the great work

Use the complexion slider the Head tab in RaceMenu to change complexion.

DXT1 should be enough since you don't need the alpha channel.

The body hair was transferred from SAM's own textures.  Even with furball, they lack arm hair.  I already have arm hair overlays made for my RaceMenu plugin and may incorporate them in this mod in a future update.

how do i put fingernails / toenails?

Those are meant for my high poly SAM body mod.  They're not used in the normal version.

Can you add some hair to armpits and arms too? Looks weird just on chest and legs, thank you. Anus texture would be cool too, or is there one already I just can't see it? :P

Arm/armpit hair is still on my Todo list.  The anus texture is there, but it's only visible during certain animations where the butt cheeks are spreaded apart (like a leg kick).

This might be a really dumb question, I'm sorry if that's the case as I'm pretty new to modding, but are we able to have more than one texture at a time using Sam Light with Racemenu and Sam Morph for Racemenu? If so what's the proper way to get that to happen? Or can I only use one per save?

The simplest answer is yes, but you need to provide the extra textures (and rename them accordingly) to use that feature.  In a future update to this mod, I'll include an option to install all extra textures to be used as optional textures for SAM Morphs for RaceMenu.

Okay, ty, so it would be better to wait for the future version then. Sadly I am not confident enough to figure out where I would need to move what files. Either way I really enjoy the mod :3

Hello. With great respect and gratitude for the excellent work.👏💝

I have one request...😍

In my mod (LK Ciel Greenston ENG/RU), I use your body textures from the mod SAM Light Texture Add-on 1.1. Can I post a mod (and in all my other mods for male followers) in Nexus and other English-language and Russian-language portals (my nickname is LadyKora/LedyKora/AlayZhvetok)?

Of course, by specifying you as the author of the textures.

Hey, I'm making a SAM compatible version of my mod Disparity and Diversity and I was wondering if I could please use these textures as part of it? And also use them to update the versions of my mod for other body meshes, because these are by far the most seamless textures I've ever seen and are just fantastic in general.

For context, I'm not talking about just repackaging the textures, I just want to use some elements of them to get rid of seams. Here's a screenshot of my High Elf SAM textures using elements of your SAM textures, the parts taken from your textures are the nipples, thigh seams, neck seams, butt and crotch as well as the "border" of the head texture (Edit: And the finger and toe nails of course.)

Love your work btw!

I just wanted to drop by and leave a bit of info because I had an issue that I've seen a couple people have troubles with, namely: these textures can appear blue when you make edits to them when they show back up in game. The issue isn't how you're exporting them per se, but how the textures have been read and loaded into photoshop or whatever other program being used. The "legacy" Nvidia DDS Plugin for Photoshop (version 8.5 I believe) will not work to import these. Or at least if there's a setting you need to adjust to make the plugin read the textures properly I could not find it.

That said, you can always try Nvidia's newer version since it grants a better compression format anyway. That does require Photoshop CC which can be expensive. Alternatively Intel Texture Works Plugin for Photoshop will work just fine as well. This will allow you to load in these textures and they will not appear blue, hence when you save the file that blue tint won't be carried along in game.

Thanks for these textures KouLeifoh. They're very good, great job as always.
