Suggestion: New layout option for download page of each game

Recommended Posts

Author

I would like to suggest adding an optional layout for the separate download page of each game.

Currently the download page of each game (Skyrim, XCOM, Fallout 4, Sims 4) only has one default layout. This layout is more focused on the file info preview whereas not optimal for the thumbnails of the cover images of each download page and thereby probably could not be a visual feast IMO.

My idea of another optional layout for the separate download page of each game is similar to that of the Blog or "Out Picks" column on VectorPlexus, or similar to any type of ordinary photo gallery layout, where the cover images are the most prominent parts.

We could also refer to how the layout is built on Nexus.

Secondly, the resolution ratio of the cover images should be consistent as 16:9 or whatever. In this way, it would be a quality of life improvement for modders who are fond of designing cover images for their files. Currently the download page only shows the thumbnails in square ratio on PC, which might be a predicament for cover images.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I agree with most of the points you've presented. Layouts are part of the larger theme the website uses. While it should be possible to modify this particular layout in a way you suggest (which would make perfect sense), I foresee that would become a point of increasing divergence when updating theme files.

I'll revisit this when I update the CMS and the theme next time.
