SAM Morphs for RaceMenu 1.0.5

   (16 reviews)

About This File

This is a RaceMenu plugin that adds SAM morphs without using any of SAM's scripts.  It's mainly intended to add SAM morphing features to SE, but a version for Oldrim is also provided.

Using armor refits for SAM is highly recommended.  For SE users, the refits must be converted to SE format using NIF Optimizer.

RaceMenu SE 0.2.4+ requires .tri morphs to be using the newer format exported by Outfit Studio.

Main Features

  • Body Morphs for different body types
  • Texture selection for custom textures
  • Body hair overlays for extra body hair control
  • BodyGen Morphs for diverse body types on all male NPC's based on class (optional)

Body Morphs

  • Samson/Samuel morphs with a toggle for skeleton scaling
  • Genital morphs based on SAM genital bones scaling formula
  • Foreskin morph to toggle foreskin
  • Individual bone scaling used in Samson/Samuel morphs for finer tuning
  • Genital skeleton scaling for compatiblity with genital accessories

Texture Selection (SAM Light only, textures not included)

  • Swap to different diffuse, normal, and specular maps for the body, hands, and feet*
  • Requires refits with body parts correctly named for SAM (SAMBody, SAMHands, SAMFeet, SAMGenitals, SAMForeskin)
  • Textures follow the naming convention BaseName_xx.dds (diffuse), BaseName_xx_msn.dds (normal), BaseName_xx_s.dds (specular) where xx ranges from 01 to 10
    • For example, base texture malebody_1.dds would be named malebody_01.dds, malebody_02.dds, malebody_03.dds, etc.
  • Feet textures have the BaseName of MaleFeet (default races), ArgonianMaleFeet (Argonian), and FeetMale (Khajiit)

*feet uses body texture by default

Usage

Three custom spells are automatically added under Powers.

  • SAM Morphs (Self)*
    • Opens a minimal version of RaceMenu on the player character
  • SAM Morphs (Target)*
    • Opens a minimal version of RaceMenu on the target character
  • SAM Textures Config
    • Configures setting for feet texture mode and resets texture overrides

*requires UIExtensions

Requirements

*not required, but SAM assets are required in some type of setup (like SOS).  SAM scripts/.esp/.dll are not used.
**only required for editing morphs on NPC's

Manual Installation

  • 00 Textures for overlays
  • 01 Base mod for either Oldrim or SE
  • 02 BodyGen morphs (1 for basic setup, 2 for overrides from other mods) (optional)
  • 03 Genital Morphs if not using SAM Light (optional)

Notes

  • Foreskin morph requires SAM Light "un-cut" option during installation.
  • BodyGen for RaceMenu SE can make the game unstable based on individual setups.
  • BodyGen morphs are saved in the SKSE co-save alongside the game save.  NetImmerse Override Cleaner can be used to remove the morph data in Oldrim saves.  I'm not aware of any equivalent tool for SE.
  • Body hair overlay only applies to the main body mesh, not the genitals.  This is due to how the overlay system was designed.
  • RaceMenu for NPC's will show them in a T-pose during slider changes.  This is intentional and required when updating skeleton scaling since the game is paused.  NPC will resume animations once the menu is closed.
  • Genital morphs don't use genital skeleton scaling and are intended for BodyGen randomization.
  • If used alongside the full SAM, the morphs and scaling are not synchronized and will add on top of each other.

Credits

  • expired6978 for RaceMenu and UIExtensions
  • Vector for the creation of Shape Atlas for Men

What's New in Version 1.0.5   See changelog

Released

  • added cloaking ability to reapply custom textures to affected NPC's in range.  Cloak is only active when at least one NPC is using custom textures.  Use SAM Morphs (Self) or SAM Morphs (Target) spell at least once to enable effect in existing game.

Hello! I know this supposed to be heavily used for SAM Light, but I'm trying to use this for SAM Full.
However, when I move the sliders, it doesn't affect my character. And upon finishing, there are no changes. I tried disabling the scaling scripts for SAM but to no avail. Any idea why is working like this?

My installed necessary mods (Oldrim):
- XPMSE
- SAM Full
- SAM Morphs
- Racemenu (latest version)
- I didn't install SAM Light (is it required still?), UIextensions (as I'm not modifying NPCs)

The morphs on the SAM Body tab in RaceMenu should still work on SAM full.  Only the texture swap feature requires SAM Light.  Are you already using SAM refits?  Morphs are useless without them.  Aside from this, always test without wearing any armor since SAM's base body already supports morphs.  At the very least, the skeleton sliders on the bottom half should work.

Thanks for the response! I already have SAM Vanilla refits if you meant that? Well... I'm actually trying without armor but nothing's really happening. I think I did something wrong :(.
Here's how I installed them in order:
- SAM full

- SAM Vanilla refits
- XPMSE (Replace SAM skeleton)
- RaceMenu
- SAM Morphs (Oldrim, BodyGen2, Genital Morphs, replace all asked usually the genital .tri files)

Does Load Order matter too?

Thanks for the input @Dee Aeriel though rearranging it didn't do the trick unfortunately.

Edit: I tried reinstalling SAM Morphs 'after' XPMSE and placed Racemenu at the bottom of the LO and it worked! Seems like my XPMSE skeleton is overwriting stuff. Thanks guys for the idea!

Impressive mod.  I'm seriously curious how this works.  Any chance of getting the source .psc scripts?  I notice they're not in the BSA provided with this mod.

Had a mod idea and am curious about how the morph sliders interact with NiOverride in RaceMenu.

It simply uses NiOverride to set the morph value on slider change and updates the target character to show the change.  Samson/Samuel morphs use a 0-100 range to match the orignal SAM mod while the actual morph value is internally divided by 100.  The texture sliders also use morph values to avoid bloating the main game save file (morphs are saved in the skse co-save and can be safely cleared).

The source file isn't available since it's messy and I didn't want people stealing code.  The code is long overdue for restructuring whenever I get around to updating it again.

Hi! I'm new to Skyrim SE, and just installed SAM Morphs for RaceMenu, I notice that there are 3 SPELLS as described, but I could not be able to assign these spell to L or R and cannot cast them. Any help?

I've noticed that whenever I change the normal map texture it reverts back to the default one upon unequipping armor any piece of chest armor.
Is this known or an error on my side?

Due to the way I start the cloak effect for managing texture swapping, you need to use the SAM Morphs power to change textures instead of the full RaceMenu.  Once that cloak effect is active, you can safely change player textures in the full RaceMenu.  Keep in mind that if no texture slider is used for the player/NPC, the cloak effect will be removed for performance reasons.  I'll change the logic and expand its functionality in a future update.

OK, so I'm struggling to get the textures to work outside of body armour. I did the SAM Morph power to change the skin texture, even though I see nothing change when he is naked other than his genitalia. If I attempt the SAM Morph power when in armour, I see the texture change underneath. I do the save, and reload, and still only the default skin when naked, with retextured hands and genitalia.

Is there a way to tell if the "cloak" is active? Should this mod be low in load order?

Thanks!

Heya
Whenever I try to use a custom normal (.msn), it reverts back to default as soon as my PC puts any cloth on. Is it a bug or did I do something wrong ?

Hey all,

I have the same issue as @DarkGingerand @Jockstrap :no sliders in the menus but the headers are there:

ScreenShot0.thumb.png.e37b356b286f56b8f8389880d3d1ec78.png

I've tried both with and without XPMSSE, same results. I tried to keep my LO as short as possible to try testing but I can't figure out why it's not working...

image.thumb.png.e62aa4baeee184a1732e38e562a6d66c.png

Does anyone have a clue?

Thank you:)

I don't know if you solved it yet, but since it isn't compatible with AE update you'll have to downgrade to the previous version of Skyrim. You can use the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Downgrade Patcher. Theres a best of both worlds patch if you want to downgrade but still have AE content.

Hope this helps :)
