This is just an "emergency" upload, so people will still have access to SAM, since its now being removed from Hall of Torque. Like I already stated, I havent worked with SAM/Skyrim in almost 2 years now, so I have no idea what was exactly changed, and pretty much forgot a great deal of how things work, but I will get back on working on Skyrim/SAM mods once the SSE (Skyrim Special Edition) is released

Introduction

What is SAM?

SAM is a male body replacer mod for Skyrim (32-bit version) and is meant to replace SOS (Schlongs of Skyrim).

It introduces a wide variety of body forms that can be assigned directly or randomly to male characters in Skyrim.
This is achieved by introducing three basic body types:

  • "Normal" - Similar to the vanilla body. Ranges from skinny to, well, normal.
  • "Samson" -  Muscular, top heavy body form. Wide shoulders, small hips. Adds muscle definition to the body.
  • "Samuel" - Fat, almost pear-shaped body form. Narrow shoulders, wide hips. Adds softness to the body.

To create a nearly unlimited amount of body shapes, the Samson and/or Samuel morphs are "injected" into the normal body on a scale from 0 to 100.
Furthermore, SAM adds male genitals, also lovingly called schlongs, that can be morphed, scaled and toggled on and off in-game, 5 different degrees of body hair,
Beast Character support, Werewolf support and 13 poses.

INCOMPATIBILITIES

  • Schlongs of Skyrim (SOS)
  • Armors and clothes created for SOS
  • Latest version of Racemenu (unless SAM's skeleton is overwritten by XPMSE, see above)

HOW TO USE

To get the most out of SAM, you are encouraged to adjust SAM's settings in its MCM to your liking.
Available settings in MCM:

GENERAL SETTINGS

Most of the options here alter the way SAM assigns values to NPCs.

  • Enable Automatic Race Settings: If enabled, SAM will morph NPCs according to their race. Adjust race offsets in the "Races" tab.
  • Class morph offsets: If enabled, SAM will also morph NPCs to fit their assigned class (muscular warriors, thin mages, etc.)
  • Weight Cap: If enabled, the Samuel and Samson values cannot exceed the overall weight of the NPC. For example, if an NPC has the weight 37, the Samuel and Samson values can only add up to 37.
    • If disabled, this rule no longer applies.
  • Variaton Range: The higher the value, the more varied and extreme the randomly assigned body morphs become.
  • Enable schlongs: If enabled, all male characters will have genitals.
    • If disabled, schlongs will be replaced by black underwear.
  • Overrides: this button resets textures applied to all characters. For trouble-shooting purposes only.
  • Export/Import settings: all your settings can be saved and loaded via these buttons. Very useful if you start new games often.

SCALING

Body Options

Most of these options are fairly self-explanatory. However, the schlong options won't be present if schlongs are disabled in the general tab.
NPC body scaling and NPC Schlong scaling are toggled off by default to save system resources. Enabling them means that the engine will assign moprhs to all male characters that get loaded into the game.
This can stress the engine considerably as NPCs are loaded and unloaded more or less all the time.
The Scale multiplier affects all male NPCs. It is set to a believable value by default.

Proportion Settings

Here, you can adjust the proportion of the Samson and Samuel moprhs to your liking. The "Original Values" buttons reset your inputs in this menu.

ACTORS

In this menu, you can assign Samuel and Samson values as well as schlong options to your character and currently loaded male NPCs around you.

  • Actor: Choose which currently loaded male actor you want to alter. Default is your character.
  • Overrides: Same button as the one under the general tab.

Body Options

Here, the values SAM applied to the character that you chose in the Actor field are shown and can be adjusted to your liking.

  • Weight: Vanilla weight slider. Makes the character broader or slimmer. Not available for NPCs.
  • Height: Vanilla height slider. Use carefully as even small changes can have big impacts.
  • Samson / Samuel sliders: Choose how much of each body morph should be injected. Max combined value is either 100 or the character's weight, depending on settings in the general tab.
  • Texture: choose between up to 5 texture sets. By default, these contain different degrees of hairyness for human and elf races, from smooth to Furball. Khajiits have two texture options (smooth and stripes), Argonians only have one default option.
    • Body hair is black by default, which cannot be altered without reworking the textures directly.

Schlong Options

  • Schlong Size: Alters the schlong's size, primarily its length.
  • Schlong Taper: Makes the tip of the schlong narrower. 0= evenly wide, 100 = strongly tapered towards the tip. High values also shorten the schlong noticeably.
  • Testicle Size: slider from -50 to +50, default is 0.
  • Cut: Toggle foreskin on and off.

RACES

This menu lets you predetermine the values assigned to different races.
Most options work exactly like the options in the Actor tab, so only the ones behaving differently will be discussed here.

  • Race: choose which race you want to alter.
  • Texture Lock: Make all characters of the chosen race have the chosen texture. If unticked, variations can occur.
  • Cut: In this tab, the cut option is a slider rather than a toggle on/off button. Sets the probability of characters of the chosen race being cut or uncut. 0= everyone is uncut, 100 = everyone is cut.

Werewolf

This tab only works as intended if you have Moonlight Tales Essentials as well as the Moonlight Tales Essentials Patch installed.
Options are fairly self-explanatory. Schlong options carry over from the Actor tab.

SAM Poses and SOS console commands

SAM contains 13 poses for your pleasure. FNIS is required to play them in-game. Important note: when running the FNIS tool, make sure to toggle the "Skeleton Arm Fix" option ON.

To play the poses, open the console in-game and use one of the following commands:

player.SAE SAMPose XX
SAE SAMPose xx

The first version plays the pose for the player character, the second version plays the pose for the character selected in the console (left click on them while the console is open).

Replace XX with a value from 01 to 13 to play the according pose.

Alternatively, you can use mods such as Poser Hotkeys to access poses, be it from SAM or other poser mods.

Also, some console commands carry over from SOS (Schlongs of Skyrim). These include:

SAE SOSFlaccid        //turn schlong flaccid
SAE SOSFastErect    //get erection quickly
SAE SOSErect        //get erection gradually
SAE SOSBendXX        //replace xx with value from -9 to 9 to adjust erection angle, default=0

Again, add player. before the command to target the player character.

I'm new to modding and I've been trying to get SAM to run on my game. I've got the proper SKSE build and RaceMenu installed but for whatever reason I still can't get the manager to load properly. Any tips would be great.

I really look forward to this for SSE, currently using sos lite version that doesn't rely on mcm menus in game, any chance we could get something like that that just has a installer that lets you choose your body type from a installer before going into game? ;)

Bodyslide support would be very interesting - and it would make it a lot easier for folks to make that modded suit of armor they just love so much compatible with their SAM character without having to redistribute parts of SAM.

I totally understand if Vectorplexus doesn't want to touch Bodyslide though - it's currently all about boobs and such and not exactly his kinda thing.

Can you be more specific?

I'm afraid I'm not going to do that @Grumpy Wolf, it would be a huge effort to undertake, and only possible for you have the source files for each and every refits. I have mine, but I dont have others. Just be patient... =)

I dont want to touch it... because its not very good really... I mean, I was all hyped when it was released, but lets face it, aside from simple stuff like gloves and boots, the results are a bit mediocre when refitting to Samson or Samuel. I tried... all I got was poop, I get better results if I use a full fledged 3D app

It's mostly aimed at people who take one look at Blender and faint, I think :) I've never even downloaded it (Cuz, you know, Blender) but the idea seems to get Average Gamer a "good enough" solution for their own personal use.

Just kidding, didn't realize it was a big process for an installer, I will just be patient :)

the installer is not the issue, the issue is to re-do all assets, and some of them need source files. I can only do that for my own work... And if you dont mind me asking were you aiming at Samson or Samuel?

Also, does anyone know if there is a simple way to switch the skeleton of lets say an orc and give it to a khajiit so they have a bigger frame? I thought it might just be as simple as copying over the skeleton file and renaming it, but skyrim SE seems to hide those files.

Do the opposite, normal races can use the beast skeleton, but not the other way around. Scale as you see fit, duplicate, rename, and you're good to go, The location is the same as Vanilla/Normal Skyrim

I think it's an issue with the newer version of NetImmerse Override in RaceMenu. I'm using RaceMenu v3.3.0 along with XPMSE 3.21 and everything's been running pretty well.

Is there a description of this mod anywhere or instruction on how to install it? Sorry I have looked around this site but I can't find anything aside from discussions on what to add and this download page.

I am trying to figure out if this would be better than SoS but I don't even know what the features are or how to install it since the textures and main file are separate (and there are like 6 files). Could someone point me in the right directions.

Sorry for being a nub.

Firstly welcome to this little corner of the internet. And don't worry, we were all new at some point too. :)

SAM requires the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) and RaceMenu (I'm using v3.3.0 due to the newer versions being a little buggy with SAM here and there). You'll need the Core files and the texture files (included in the update at the bottom) to get up and running. I'd also recommend grabbing the Vanilla Skyrim Refits so vanilla clothing matches the new body types and optionally the revealing/skimpy armours if you're that way inclined.

Thanks for the welcome. I have SKSE and RaceMenu already and the Core File and vanilla armour refit. Trying to figure out how to install the textures. Is it just a separate .esp file that I upload to my Mod Manager or do I need to drop the textures them into a certain folder somewhere?

I can figure out all the features once it's up and running I guess, but is there anywhere that spells it out?

Also does anyone know if this is compatible with immersive armours?

The zip just contains the textures you need, no extra esp files or anything. Just drop the "textures" folder of the zip file into your data directory. I'm using Mod Organizer so I just manually set the Data directory when I install the file from disk. Once you've got all that you can change all the options in the MCM (assuming you have SkyUI installed).

I'll make a mental note to try getting an overview / installation guide up on here at some point but poke me if I forget. :P

And I've been using Immersive Armours myself, however the armours won't automatically scale to fit your body type, they'll just use the body they were made with. Normally you don't notice it much unless you've buff all the dudes in Skyrim to high hell in the MCM. :P Anyway, hope this clarifies things and have fun.

Almost had a heart attack, nearly followed by a deep, deep depression when I found out SAM was gone from HoT. I'm so very grateful that it's not gone for-ever-more. Glad you're able to host it somewhere you have more control over it.

Partially yes. SAM light, should be fully compatible, if you dont consider the Havok Behaviours/Animations. However, I'm currently working on re-normalizing the entire SAM project as I've mentioned, so there's that.

Here's what we know so far:

  • Scripts and ESPs will not require changes, for the most part
  • SAM relies greatly on SKSE, and therefore, also scripts, so even when SKSE is released for SSE, it may happen that the same functions might not be available. AFAIK, F4SE, is not even a proper script extender so far, and while the scripting part of Skyrim is the same, the functions table has been changed. So, porting SKSE to SSE, is a huge task to undertake, which will probably require a lot of time to do so.
  • SAM also relies on SkyUI, for its MCM feature. Without MCM, making SAM menus to setup would be a nightmare, and I will never do that, so we're also dependent of a new SkyUI version. We may not actually require a new version at all, as long as the new SSE SKSE is able to maintain all the functions that already exist for the normal SKSE
  • NiOverride/RaceMenu. I'm not sure if SKSE plugins need to be recompiled for the 64-bit version, but this should be more simple to do I believe, as long as, and again, SKSE is able to maintain the same functions from the Vanilla version of SKSE

Here's my advice for anyone that wants to play with SAM... dont waste time with SSE, SAM will not be ready for it as soon as we would all wish for. Let's wait for things to develop, and I will also focus on the Renormalize Project, which will be possible for either Normal or SSE.

This download contains tools you can use to help you create refits for SAM.
These files are meant for creating refits only. They are not meant to generate a male body to use for your game.
      Instructions:
      - Download BodySlide and Outfit Studio ( version 4.8.0 is the version I used to write the tutorial, but you can try using the latest version, it will probably work fine)
      - Download Caliente Tools Legendary or Caliente Tools Special depending on which version of skyrim you are making refits for.
      - Drag the tools to your BodySlide install folder.

The goal was to even further simplify the refit process so that anyone can do it easily. I have included sets for both the high poly body and the low poly body, and each has hdt and non-hdt options too. I was recommended to post this as a download so that people can see it easier, so that's why I'm doing it.

I made a guide on how to use these to do your refits. You can find it here:

There are some optional files included, courtesy of @ kreiste. If you use these files and find them useful, please go and thank him for all his hard work. 👍
Weight 1 to 0 slider set, you might find this useful when you are refitting an outfit and having a difficult time, especially with the armpits and underarms. View File SV Beards for KouLeifoh's High Poly Head
SV Beards for KouLeifoh's High Poly Head
This is a conversion of shadowtigers's mod, SV Beards for compatibility with KouLeifoh's High Poly Head
SV Beards adds over 100 facial hairs, created by combining multiple vanilla facial hairs together. There are no new meshes and they will use whatever textures you have installed for vanilla facial hair.
This mod adds the exact same facial hairs which SV Beards does, but these are suitable for use with KouLeifoh's High Poly Head.
There are versions for both LE and SE.
      Requirements:
None, but if you don't have KouLeifoh's High Poly Head installed, then this mod is pointless and the facial hairs will be invisible.
The original SV Beards is not required, but you can have both installed at the same time if you want.

-Some meshes were re-adjusted in order to decrease the number of clippings
All in-game heavy armors were refitted
P.S. Don't pay attention to grey Imperial armor, it would look normal in your game.
      DESCRIPTION
      This file replaces:
      Blades armor
      Dragonbone armor
      Dragonscale armor
      Draugr armor
      Ebony armor
      Iron Light/Heavy armor
      Glass armor
      Nordplate armor
Nothing unusual. All changes can be seen on screens. Sorry but only screens with Samson 100. It works with any characteristic.
IMPORTANT - gloves and boots weren't changed
If you notice any clippings or something just write here or in personal messages.

View File [SAM] UPD 19/08/19 All Heavy Armors Replacer
      19/08/19
-Some meshes were re-adjusted in order to decrease the number of clippings
All in-game heavy armors were refitted
P.S. Don't pay attention to grey Imperial armor, it would look normal in your game.
      DESCRIPTION
      This file replaces:
      Blades armor
      Dragonbone armor
      Dragonscale armor
      Draugr armor
      Ebony armor
      Iron Light/Heavy armor
      Glass armor
      Nordplate armor
Nothing unusual. All changes can be seen on screens. Sorry but only screens with Samson 100. It works with any characteristic.
IMPORTANT - gloves and boots weren't changed
If you notice any clippings or something just write here or in personal messages.
      INSTALLATION
      Drop files to Skyrim folder
      UNINSTALLATION
